Assembly Bill 2410, which California Farm Bureau supports, and Senate Bill 899, which Farm Bureau co-sponsored, continue advancing through the state Legislature. The bills would streamline wildfire mitigation efforts and improve understanding of the public health benefits of reducing catastrophic wildfire smoke.
The Senate Agriculture Committee released its farm bill discussion draft, marking the first step toward reauthorization. Committee action is expected next month as negotiations continue on several unresolved agricultural priorities.

Assembly Bill 1603 advanced out of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee after amendments removed several of the bill's most concerning provisions. California Farm Bureau remains opposed unless amended and will continue advocating against the ban on future PFAS pesticide registrations. PFAS refers to a group of synthetic "forever chemicals."
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that federal pesticide labeling requirements under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act preempt conflicting state-law warning claims. California Farm Bureau joined 12 state Farm Bureaus in supporting the successful outcome.

Assembly Bill 1585, the truth-in-wine-labeling bill, which California Farm Bureau supported, was withdrawn from the Senate Governmental Organization Committee. Farm Bureau will continue working to advance accurate country-of-origin labeling for American wine.
