President Seeks $11 billion in Supplemental Support for Farmers
Published Friday, June 26, 2026
This week, President Donald Trump sent a formal request to congressional leaders for $87.6 billion in supplemental funding, much of which would support the war efforts in Iran. $11.1 billion would be slotted for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, with $1.1 billion going to support impacts from winter storms in late 2025 and 2026, and $10 billion for temporary economic assistance for row and specialty crops planted in 2026. For now, there are few details on how that breakdown might look, putting the onus on lawmakers to decide. It remains unclear what kind of appetite Congress might have for supporting the funding request, particularly given the unpopularity of the ongoing Iranian conflict.
