House Agriculture Holds Hearing with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins
On Wednesday, the House Agriculture Committee held a hearing with U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, covering a broad range of issues, including the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission Report, SNAP eligibility, ICE raids on agricultural operations, the H-2A program, forest fires and more.
Secretary Rollins emphasized the need for greater agricultural input in shaping the MAHA Commission’s recommendations—particularly regarding inconsistent messaging on pesticide safety. She also stated that the H-2A guestworker program requires significant reforms to make it more affordable and workable for farmers. However, she noted that many changes must come from Congress, as the agency’s authority is limited. Staff Contact: Matthew Viohl, mviohl@cfbf.com
