TITLE: Special Programs Specialist
REPORTABILITY: Member Advocacy Operations Manager
SALARY RANGE: $65,000 to $75,000 per year
SUMMARY: Oversees and drives participation in Special Programs including Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R), Leadership Farm Bureau (LFB) and Rural Health & Safety. Responsible to grow and manage relationships with educational and other statewide partners including FFA and collegiate AG programs to grow membership in Collegiate and YF&R categories.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Maintain current, thorough, and accurate database and files of program participants, leaders, and contacts, including members of the YF&R state committee and county chairs, and Leadership Farm Bureau alumni.
Promote programs via social media by generating and communicating relevant content regarding upcoming events, awards and accomplishments on established Facebook page.
Execute on marketing plan to promote CAFB to new generations including managing social media, maintaining and recommending content updates on CFBF.com, trade show plan and community partnerships.
Create and compile materials for program meetings and training sessions.
Respond to and fulfill requests for program information and materials from county Farm Bureaus, and other interested parties.
Coordinate, plan and execute all aspects of the annual YF&R Leadership Conference with assistance from the YF&R state committee. Determine conference content, speakers, and entertainment. Drive conference promotion and manage the registration process.
Administer the annual YF&R recognition programs- Collegiate Discussion Meet, Committee of the Year and YF&R of the Year at the Leadership Conference, the Excellence in Agriculture Award, the Achievement Award and the Discussion Meet at the CAFB Annual Meeting.
Maintain budget for special programs and make cost-saving recommendations when appropriate.
Pursue grant and other fundraising opportunities to off-set expenses for special programs and to enable growth of special categories.
Administer the annual AFBF and CAFB County Activities of Excellence awards and coordinate CFB’s involvement in the AFBF State Awards Program.
Participate in organizing other activities, as necessary, at the CAFB Annual Meeting, including the Farm PAC raffle and fundraisers.
Oversee and manage the Rural Health & Safety Committee providing recommendations for direction and focus of the committee.
Promote the CAFB Scholarship Program to enhance collegiate member engagement.
Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
EXPERIENCE:
- BA degree in Communications, Education, Business Management or Public Relations
- 2+ years’ experience working in a program management role; experience working in the agricultural community preferred.
- Expertise collaborating with cross-functional departments to drive goals and execute on organizational priorities
- Strong understanding of social media best practices and reputation management analytics
- Demonstrated ability in public speaking and experience in influencing key stakeholders
- Experience managing and leading a team or groups.
- Familiarity of the issues facing those in California agriculture.
