TITLE: Public Policy Coordinator
REPORTABILITY: Director of Federal Policy
SALARY RANGE:$26.50/hr. to $28.85/hr.
SUMMARY: The Public Policy Coordinator works with the Federal Policy Director to successfully implement the organization’s federal legislative, regulatory, and education programs. They will be responsible for assisting the organization’s federal outreach efforts through communications, resource and policy development, and member engagement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the federal policy team and other divisions to develop internal and external communication tools that advance the organization’s federal policy efforts.
- Assist in development of written and electronic materials to summarize CAFB’s policy positions, including (but not limited to) regular newsletter articles, one-pagers, and other materials.
- Coordinate with the federal policy team in outreach and education efforts with CAFB and county members, other agricultural organizations, Members of Congress, their staff, and relevant federal, state, and regional officials.
- Review, track, and evaluate federal legislation, regulatory actions, Congressional and Agency hearings, and other stakeholder engagements as directed.
- Communicate effectively with other departments and farmers and ranchers across the state in order to help highlight and promote the federal policy team’s work.
- Assist in planning and attending in-state and out-of-state meetings, conferences, conference calls, briefings, fundraisers, and other events relevant to the federal policy team’s work as directed.
SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, agricultural communications, or related field.
- Minimum two years’ experience in legislative or regulatory advocacy, government relations, or public affairs environment.
- Capitol Hill, federal policy, and communications experience desirable but not required.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to professionally represent the organization and farmers’ interests to internal and external audiences.
- Demonstrates ability to successfully meet deadlines and projects with competing priorities.
- Self-motivated, goal oriented, team player with robust collaborative skills.
TRAVEL: 10% travel, divided between in- and out-of-state conferences and meetings.
