Collegiate Young Farmers & Ranchers Member Represents California at FUSION

Hello California Farm Bureau! I’m Carly Hullana, a collegiate Madera County Farm Bureau member and a second-year student at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Currently studying Agricultural Science with a minor in Agricultural Education.
At the beginning of March, I was fortunate to travel to Denver, CO for an invaluable opportunity representing both the American Farm Bureau Federation and California Farm Bureau at the 2025 FUSION Conference, working as a Social Media Ambassador.
I was selected as one of five collegiate members across the United States for this position, with the goal of collaborating with a team of collegiate Farm Bureau members and AFBF staff to generate a social media presence during the conference to share the experience with members, as well as demonstrate the value of Farm Bureau membership to sponsors, supporters, and the outside world.
Throughout the six days in Denver, showcasing the wonderful four-day conference, I experienced exponential growth in knowledge and skills within the social media and advertising sectors, which I am excited to implicate in my own endeavors.
Not only did my skill set grow through creating various types of content utilizing tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud applications and Meta Business Suite, capturing and showcasing FUSION on camera through social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter). But through participating in fun and educational breakout sessions, engaging power hours, multiple networking opportunities, proactive Collegiate Discussion Meet rounds, remarkable program banquets, and inspirational general sessions with empowering guest speakers such as Josh Sundquist, Dr. Temple Grandin, and AFBF President Zippy Duvall, as well. I also got to showcase other exciting activities throughout the conference, including the Gold Rush event held at the Denver Aquarium, the Beet of Sugar Tour at Western Sugar Processing Mill Factory with some amazing CA YF&R members, and the Grand Finale event held at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
I had the best time showcasing FUSION and the American Farm Bureau Federation, and I am grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and the lifelong connections I made with the other outstanding ambassadors on this team and the AFBF staff I was fortunate to work with. This opportunity has greatly refreshed and motivated my passion for agriculture advocation and communications, along with my appreciation and connection with Farm Bureau and my agricultural community both in San Luis Obispo and Madera County.
