AB 1711 and AB 706 Head to the Governor's Desk, Farm Bureau Requests Signatures

California Farm Bureau and coalition partners are asking Gov. Newsom to sign two bills Farm Bureau supports—Assembly Bill 1711 by Assemblymember Damon Connolly, D-San Rafael, and Assembly Bill 706 by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Winters.
AB 1711 would redirect specified money from the Fair and Exposition Fund to California fairs for a broader set of capital outlay purposes, including public health, fire and life safety, emergency services improvements, regulatory compliance and maintenance projects.
AB 706 authorizes the state Board of Forestry and Fire Protection to use Timber Fund or Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund money to help revive idle biomass facilities, expand generation capacity and provide incentives for eligible electricity generation. Facilities would need to meet requirements such as using at least 60% feedstock from Tier 1 and Tier 2 high hazard zones, operating in specified counties or meeting emission limits and being certified as renewable energy resources under the state’s renewable portfolio standards.
