$5 million in Wolf-Livestock Compensation Funding Approved, Wolf Livestock Coexistence Bill Awaits Governor's Signature

Senate Bill 1135 by Catherine Blakespear, D-Encinitas, passed out of the California Legislature. The bill would make permanent the Wolf-Livestock Compensation Fund and would revive the Wildlife Coexistence Program. California Farm Bureau initially opposed the bill, but after significant amendments and consultation with affected Farm Bureau members in counties with wolves, the organization is now neutral on the bill. California Farm Bureau, in partnership with Assemblymember Heather Hadwick, R-Alturas, and state Sen. Blakespear, secured $5 million towards the Wolf-Livestock Compensation Fund, which is also in the budget.
