Farmers Needed for Survey About Evapotranspiration and Almond Production
Published Friday, September 18, 2026
Researchers from the University of California, Davis, and UC Agriculture and Natural Resources, with support from the California Department of Food and Agriculture, are inviting members of California’s almond industry to participate in a brief survey about the use of evapotranspiration, or ET, information for irrigation, water-resource management and water accounting.
The researchers seek responses from growers, orchard managers, irrigation and crop consultants, irrigation practitioners, water managers and other agricultural professionals. The survey asks about their understanding and use of ET information in almond production, as well as their experience, perceptions and expectations regarding the accuracy of available ET estimates.
The survey is part of a research project evaluating the uncertainties and potential errors associated with satellite-based estimates of almond evapotranspiration. Responses will help researchers develop more reliable ET tools to support irrigation decisions, improve water-use efficiency, and strengthen the sustainability and productivity of California’s almond industry.
The survey takes about 7-10 minutes to complete and can be accessed here:
