Reclamation Increases Central Valley Project 2026 Water Supply Allocations for South-of-Delta Contractors
Published Friday, May 22, 2026
On Tuesday, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announced increased water supply allocations for south-of-delta Central Valley Project contractors. According to the agency, the updated allocations reflect improved hydrologic conditions, including April storm activity, strong carryover storage levels, and coordinated reservoir operations that captured additional runoff while continuing to meet environmental and flood control requirements.
Under the updated allocation announcement, irrigation water service and repayment contractors south of the delta were increased to 25% of their contract total. Municipal and industrial water service and repayment contractors received an increase to 75% of historical public health and safety needs. Additionally, Eastside Division contractors were increased from zero allocation to 49,000 acre-feet.
The allocation increase provides additional water supply certainty for agricultural and municipal water users as California moves further into the summer irrigation season.
