BLM Proposes New Rule Overhauling Grazing Program

Published Friday, May 15, 2026
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has released a proposed rule that would significantly revise portions of its federal grazing program. According to the agency, the proposal is intended to streamline grazing permit renewals and provide greater flexibility for permittees during drought conditions and wildfire mitigation efforts.
The proposal also includes several additional changes affecting administration of grazing on public lands. California Farm Bureau is reviewing the rule and expects to submit comments as part of the federal rulemaking process. Farm Bureau welcomes member feedback on the proposed changes and their potential impacts on grazing operations.
