Bring Back the Kern Litigation – Amicus Coordination
On April 29, California Farm Bureau joined with 11 other agricultural groups to file an amicus brief with the California Supreme Court in Bring Back the Kern v. North Kern Water Storage District, urging that environmental water use must adhere to the “reasonableness” standard mandated by the California Constitution. California Farm Bureau agrees with the appellate court ruling that the reasonableness standard is self-executing, necessitating a balancing test between fish protection and other water uses. An adverse decision would affect agricultural water users.
