Wildfire and Health Outcomes Bill Advances

Senate Bill 899, authored by state Sen. Shannon Grove, R-Bakersfield, passed from the Senate Committee on Natural Resources on the consent calendar. The bill is sponsored and supported by the California Forest Watershed Alliance, of which Farm Bureau is a member. The bill is like Senate Bill 945 from 2024, which Farm Bureau sponsored, with a focus still on creating robust state-level data on the financial impact to health systems from wildfire smoke.
