EPA Issues Emergency Summer E15 Waiver
Published Friday, March 27, 2026
On Thursday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued a temporary emergency fuel waiver to permit nationwide sales of gasoline blended with 15% ethanol, or E15. California already legally permits year-round E15 sales following legislation signed last year by Gov. Newsom, but the issue has been a significant priority for many corn-producing states elsewhere. Per data aggregated by AAA, the average cost of gas in California has increased around $1.20 in the past 30 days as impacts continue from the war in Iran.
