Published Friday, June 5, 2026
Last Friday, California Farm Bureau President Shannon Douglass joined agricultural leaders from across California for a specialty crop roundtable discussion with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. The event, hosted by Congressman Vince Fong, R-Bakersfield, focused on the challenges and opportunities facing specialty crop producers and the broader agricultural economy.
Following the roundtable, Rollins announced additional details regarding specialty crop assistance funded through the Farmer Bridge Assistance Program. During the discussion, Douglass emphasized the importance of maintaining access to international markets for California producers and highlighted the state's critical role in supplying food, fiber and agricultural products to consumers across the nation and around the world.
The conversation provided an opportunity for agricultural leaders to share on-the-ground perspectives and reinforce the importance of policies that support the long-term competitiveness of specialty crop agriculture.
