Additional Funding Announced for Specialty Crop Assistance Program
Published Friday, June 5, 2026
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released long-awaited details for the Assistance for Specialty Crop Farmers Program, funded through the Farmer Bridge Assistance Program approved by Congress late last year.
As part of the announcement, USDA allocated an additional $625 million to the program, bringing total funding to approximately $1.625 billion. The program is designed to provide financial assistance to specialty crop producers facing ongoing economic challenges, with payment rates varying by commodity.
USDA has opened online enrollment for eligible producers, and local Farm Service Agency offices are expected to begin accepting enrollments next week. Producers are encouraged to carefully review program details and payment rates to determine eligibility and potential assistance levels.
Additional information is also available through the American Farm Bureau Federation's Market Intel analysis, which provides an overview of the program and funding structure.
