House Passes Bill to Make Daylight Saving Time Permanent

Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Sunshine Protection Act, or H.R. 139, which would make daylight saving time permanent. The bill received bipartisan support in a 308-117 vote.
Although President Trump supports the measure, it may face greater opposition in the Senate, where several key Republican senators have expressed concerns. Opponents argue that permanent daylight-saving time would delay winter sunrises, particularly in northern states, potentially leaving children waiting for school buses in the dark.
