Administration Suspends Countervailing Duties on Phosphate Fertilizers

Earlier this week, the Trump administration announced an emergency suspension of countervailing duties against Moroccan phosphate imports. Morocco is one of the world’s biggest producers of phosphate, a key ingredient for many fertilizers. The relief is intended to try to chip away at elevated input costs that continue to plague the industry. The suspension will last for either eight months or when the emergency is deemed ended, whichever comes first.
