Farm Bill Slated for Floor Vote Next Week
Published Friday, April 24, 2026
House Republicans are preparing to bring the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, or the farm bill, to a floor vote next week. The legislation passed in a strong bipartisan 34-17 vote in the Agriculture Committee last month, but it remains to be seen what kind of support it will face from the full body. While the legislation has historically seen strong bipartisan support, this iteration lacks the nutrition components that tend to give buy-in from urban-area lawmakers. Alternatively, fiscal hawks who have typically not supported the farm bill are more likely to do so with this version. It sets the stage for a closely watched floor vote that is most likely to be along party lines.
