Governor Signs AB 525 to Extend Agricultural Vehicle BIT Exemption

Assembly Bill 525 authored by Assembly Member Tom Lackey, R-Palmdale, was signed by the governor and supported by California Farm Bureau. AB 525 would extend the current exemption for “agricultural vehicle” from the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Basic Inspection of Terminals (BIT) Program by five years. The BIT Program requires CHP to inspect vehicles, maintenance records and driving records as part of a performance-based system for selecting truck terminals.
