AB 1042 – Managed Honeybee Health Program
Assembly Bill 1042, authored by Assembly Member Rhodesia Ransom, D-Stockton, passed out of the Senate Agriculture Committee on Tuesday. This bill would authorize the California Department of Food and Agriculture to establish and oversee the Managed Honeybee Health Program aimed at improving the health and well-being of managed honeybees in the state. If funding is available, CDFA would also be able to offer incentives and grants to eligible recipients for health intervention projects that enhance the health and well-being of managed honeybee populations used in pollination services. To date, the bill has received unanimous support, with no registered opposition, and will now head to the Senate Appropriations Committee. Staff contact: Richard Filgas, rfilgas@cfbf.com
