Stephen Vaden Confirmed as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture
Stephen Vaden was confirmed as the new U.S. deputy secretary of agriculture on Wednesday following a 48-45 vote in the Senate. While he has not yet been sworn in, it will be a return for Vaden, as he previously served as general counsel for the agency during President Trump’s first term. He held that role for two years before being appointed to serve as a judge for the U.S. Court of International Trade. Although primarily holding a legal background, the deputy position is typically utilized for helping run the day-to-day operations of the agency. Staff Contact: Matthew Viohl, mviohl@cfbf.com
