Farm Bill Mark Up Postponed Until Next Week
Published Friday, February 27, 2026
The farm bill was supposed to be marked up this week in the House Agriculture Committee, but adverse weather conditions from a northeastern blizzard complicated travel for many committee members. As such, Chairman G.T. Thompson, R-Pa., announced it would be delayed until next week. The bill is typically reauthorized every five years but has been stuck receiving one-year extensions for three straight years. With a major election year upon us, passing a historically bipartisan bill could be a major challenge, particularly with the nutrition title and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funding largely separated due to the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act last year.
