National Farm Security Action Plan Announcements
Published Friday, February 20, 2026
The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of War entered a memorandum of understanding that will bring the two agencies closer together in their work to elevate food security as a national security priority. It follows up on the National Farm Security Action Plan, which was announced last summer. This will include further regulatory measures around the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act (foreign ownership of agricultural lands), working to designate fertilizer inputs as critical minerals, developing new research initiatives on protecting U.S. crops and others. A more detailed readout can be found here.
