YF&R Discussion Meet

Be sure to catch the Young Farmers and Ranchers Discussion Meet and see agriculture’s future leaders compete for top spokesperson honors as they tackle some of the industry’s most pressing issues. Participants have the chance to win an ATV donated by Polaris, a trip to San Antonio, TX and cash prizes. The final rounds of the competition will take place Sunday afternoon. Farm PAC Raffle and Silent Auction

The California Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee invites you to join the fun and excitement of its annual raffle to benefit California Farm Bureau Fund to Protect the Family Farm (Farm PAC). Funds raised by the drawing are used to support candidates for public office who share our goal of protecting the farming and ranching way of life. You just might be the one to walk away with one of five custom prize packages.

Leadership Farm Bureau Graduation Luncheon

Trade Show Opening Reception
Come join us for drinks, appetizers, fun and games. The Trade Show opening reception will be held on the Trade Show floor from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2013. Food and beverage consumption does require a ticket.

Flu Shots in the Trade Show
Free flu shots will be provided by CFBF’s Rural Health and Safety Committee and will be available in the Trade Show. Visit the Rural Health and Safety booth on Monday to get your flu shot. Quantities will be limited.

Tuesday Awards Luncheon

Celebrate the future of agriculture as we congratulate state Agriculture in the Classroom Outstanding Educator of the year, participate in the Farm PAC® Raffle and check presentation of our Young Farmers & Ranchers Program, as well as meet the new YF&R state committee chair.

Breakout Sessions

Breakout sessions will cover a variety of topics featuring industry leaders and focusing on the latest information related to rural crime and safety, membership, current agricultural research and other important issues affecting members.

WMD, Explosive Devices and Terrorist Threats
Farm Bureau welcomes FBI Special Agent Sheldon Fung from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Sacramento Division. A trained bomb tech and hazardous material specialist, Special Agent Fung will be speaking with members about rural crime awareness and what to watch for on your farms and ranches. There will be some graphic information included in this presentation. Please, no children.

The Green Rush: Dealing with the Impacts of Marijuana Production on Agricultural and Resource Lands in California
Farm Bureau members will have an opportunity to listen to a panel speak on the topics of safety and environmental impacts related to marijuana grows on agricultural and resource lands. The panel will consist of Stormer Feiler, Biologist with the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board; Scott Bauer, Environmental Scientist with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife; Tommy LaNier, Initiative Director with the National Marijuana Initiative: High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program (HIDTA); and Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims with Lt. Rick Ko. The discussion will be moderated and there will be an opportunity for a question and answer session with the panelists.

Generational Differences and Membership Challenges
Farm Bureau welcomes back Kyle Perry, Director of Leadership Development for the American Farm Bureau Federation. Kyle’s presentations have become a favorite with our members. Highlights include growing membership, target marketing for specific California commodities, and member renewal excitement. Kyle’s presentation will focus on generational differences and current membership challenges.
