From Farm to Table

First Prize

Amy Valente - San Joaquin County
First Prize

Amy Valente, a student at California State University, Fresno, shot this photo while accompanying her father on his rounds as vineyard manager at Kautz Farms. The hand crews were picking grapes that day and Ernesto Cervantes very patiently smiled and stopped working for a moment so Amy could snap this photo.

Second Prize

Linda Spencer - San Luis Obispo County
Second Prize

"It was just plain luck," said Linda Spencer about her amazing shot of tiny peas in the pod. She noticed how transparent the pod appeared on a sunny day in her Upper Lopez Canyon garden. This winning photo was taken with her digital camera late on a summer morning, when the light was most intense.

Third Prize

Tyler Blagg - Nevada County
Third Prize

Tyler Blagg’s new digital camera fueled his interest in capturing the variety of colors, shapes and textures found on farms and ranches. His usual photo subjects are found on his family’s Grass Valley dairy farm, but while visiting friends in Lodi he found these petite syrah grapes exceptionally interesting. Tyler is a junior in dairy science at California State University, Fresno.
