» June 15, 2005 «
A veteran agricultural communicator has been appointed to serve as the California Farm Bureau Federation's main media spokesman.
Dave Kranz has been named to the new position of manager of media services. In that role, he will act as the organization's chief contact for reporters. He will also continue to oversee the Farm Bureau's daily news service, Food and Farm News, and manage content of the federation's Web site, www.cfbf.com.
Kranz also edits the federation's biennial California Agricultural Directory, a resource guide that lists farm organizations and related educational and governmental institutions.
"Dave has a remarkable understanding of agriculture and an invaluable relationship with reporters who cover our issues," CFBF Communications/News Manager Ann Schmidt said. "He has been doing an excellent job for us for more than two decades, so we are very pleased to announce this well-deserved promotion."
Kranz joined the Farm Bureau Communications/News Division in 1984 after a career as a radio news director in Modesto.
A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Kranz lives in Sacramento with his family.
The California Farm Bureau, the state's largest farm organization, works to protect family farms on behalf of its nearly 87,000 members.
