The California Farm Bureau Federation board of directors has endorsed Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-Merced) for re-election to the 18th Congressional district.

"The California Farm Bureau Federation is proud to endorse Dennis Cardoza for re-election. In his tenure in Congress and in Sacramento as a State Assemblymember, he has supported agriculture," said CFBF President Bill Pauli. "He values the role the state's farmers and ranchers play in providing safe, affordable food, and important economic and environmental benefits."

Cardoza was elected to Congress in 2002. During his first term he has represented California agriculture as a member of the House Agriculture and Resources Committees. His family has been farming since the 1920s, raising dairy cattle and crops.

"As an advocate for agriculture on Capitol Hill, he has provided support and raised awareness of specialty crop agriculture and the critical issues that California farmers face," said Pauli. "Cardoza has served as a voice on nutrition and the Endangered Species Act. He also understands the challenges of water supply and air quality issues to the Central Valley."

The California Farm Bureau Federation represents nearly 90,000 member families in 56 counties.
