» March 23, 2011 «
A fast-paced, entertaining program focused on food, farming and ranching, California Country, will begin airing next week on KRON, Channel 4 in the San Francisco Bay Area. KRON will air California Country Fridays at 11 a.m., beginning April 1.
California Country introduces viewers to the farmers, ranchers, packers, processors, marketers, restaurateurs and other people who bring food and farm products to consumers. The program includes regular features such as tips on produce selection, gardening and landscaping advice, cooking demonstrations and visits to rural travel destinations.
The first program to air on KRON includes a story about a California company that makes the pickles offered in many popular restaurant chains, a visit to the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in San Francisco, and a trip to one of the state’s best-known cheese makers. The program also includes segments on how to pick the best springtime produce and a recipe for baby artichokes.
Produced by the California Farm Bureau Federation and sponsored by the Farm Bureau and Nationwide Insurance, California Country airs on 31 affiliates in California and nationally on the RFD-TV satellite service. Farm Bureau has produced more than 2,400 episodes of California Country since its debut in 1997, and has produced regularly scheduled television programs since 1964.
