A farmer seeking election to the state Assembly, David Valadao, has earned the endorsement of the state’s largest farm organization. The California Farm Bureau Federation endorsed Valadao, R-Hanford, in his campaign for the 30th Assembly District. The district includes Kings County and portions of Fresno, Kern and Tulare counties.

“By electing David Valadao, voters will bring a much-needed dose of on-the-farm reality to the state Assembly,” California Farm Bureau President Paul Wenger said. “As a partner in two dairy farms, David knows firsthand the importance of maintaining productive farms and ranches in California, as well as the regulations and other obstacles that complicate farming in our state. He understands that to be truly sustainable, family farms and ranches must be profitable as well as environmentally responsible.”

Wenger noted that Valadao seeks to represent one of the most important agricultural regions in the nation; annual agricultural revenue in the district’s four counties totals more than $14 billion.

“Family farms and ranches power the district’s economy, and David Valadao will work to assure that agriculture continues to provide both jobs and fresh, affordable food and farm products,” Wenger said. “Farmers have a long, strong tradition of giving back to their communities by serving in elected office. We’re glad David has undertaken this campaign and we look forward to working with him in the state Assembly.”

The California Farm Bureau Federation works to protect family farms and ranches on behalf of 81,000 members statewide and as part of a nationwide network of more than 6.2 million Farm Bureau members.
