Farm Bureau endorses Garcia for re-election to Assembly

The California Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors has endorsed Bonnie Garcia (R-Cathedral City) for re-election to the 80th Assembly District.
"We need more legislators like Bonnie Garcia who understand the real issues facing Californians-keeping jobs, sending kids to college, ensuring safety and security," California Farm Bureau President Bill Pauli said.
Garcia's district includes key agricultural regions in Imperial County and eastern Riverside County. The two counties produce more than $2.2 billion worth of agricultural commodities each year.
"With her focus on job creation and retention, Bonnie Garcia understands that agriculture remains a key economic engine in this district where water has been such a hot issue," Pauli said. "As a former small business owner herself, she understands the pressures and obstacles that confront farms, ranches and other family businesses."
Pauli noted that Garcia, like Governor Schwarzenegger, has been a staunch advocate for reform of the state workers' compensation insurance system and has maintained a commitment to fiscal responsibility during her first term in the Assembly.
"Government must live within its means just as all of us must," Pauli said. "We appreciate Bonnie Garcia's leadership in fighting new taxes and government regulation. She deserves re-election to the Assembly."
The California Farm Bureau Federation, the state's largest farm organization, will mobilize nearly 90,000 members statewide to influence the outcome of the November election.
