Oranges
How much water does it take to make an orange?
A) 2.6 gallons B) 9.4 gallons
C) 13.8 gallons
The juice in a tasty fresh orange comes from the water taken
up by the orange tree. California farmers irrigate their orange
groves to provide that water. Before the oranges are sent
to market, they're also washed in a packing plant. How much
water it might take to grow and process one medium-sized orange
(4.6 ounces)?
