Farm Employee Labor Service (FELS) strengthens the working relationships between farmers and field workers and helps farmers comply with increasingly complex labor and employment laws.
FELS Subscription Service
The FELS Monthly Newsletter keeps Subscribers up to date on changes in safety and labor requirements. When Subscribers have questions they call the "Employer Hot Line" and get immediate assistance. If needed, legal assistance is available through the FELS Group Legal Services Program, the first hour is free, additional time at a group rate. Subscribers receive substantial discounts on employment forms, aids and videos through the FELS catalog.
Farm Bureau Member Discount
Farm Bureau members receive a $100 discount to the FELS annual subscription.
Safety and Labor Management Consulting Services
The FELS consulting services begin with an audit of a company's labor & safety compliance practices and the creation of a Human Resource Manual. FELS consultants develop an Ag Labor Relations Plan on three fronts: (1) improving communications, (2) labor law and safety compliance, and (3) personnel relations. Plans are implemented to improve relations among full-time and seasonal employees
Bilingual Training
FELS consultants are bilingual and able to provide safety training and personnel communications to be delivered in both English and Spanish. FELS bilingual training programs are customized to ease the explanation of procedures to employees.
Compliance Manual
The FELS HR Compliance Manual is customized to meet the needs of each farm in addition to important topics of labor management and legal compliance:
- Cal/OSHA Recordkeeping
- Injury & Illness Prevention Programs
- New Employee Orientation
- Accident and Return to Work Procedures
- Key documents that the Deputy Labor Commissioner, Ag Commissioner or Cal/OSHA Inspector may want to see during a site visit.
