Division Manager, Leadership Development and Membership Marketing

Summary
Responsibilities include the strategic development, coordination and implementation of the California Farm Bureau Federation’s membership program and initiatives; the development of an effective marketing program in support of membership initiatives; direct the efforts to serve the organization’s statewide constituency.

As a member of the management team this position reports to the Administrator. The incumbent plays an instrumental, leadership role in the creation and execution of the strategic membership plan in order to fulfill the organization’s objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Uses organization’s vision, policies, culture, values, history, and programs, to set overall leadership, direction and goals for Membership Development which includes:

  • New member identification, evaluation and recruitment
  • Development and implementation of member retention initiatives
  • Identifying and negotiating with product and service providers in support of the member benefits portfolio and contributes to related marketing efforts
  • Representing organization by participating/speaking at key industry events
  • Partnering with other divisions to identify and take advantage of opportunities to increase membership promotion and development

Through subordinates, directs county Farm Bureau outreach, communication and program support.

Guides staff in the development and implementation of county Farm Bureau personnel and volunteer training and/or leadership programs.

Directs the planning and preparation for the organization’s Annual Meeting.

Oversee staff responsible for 1-800 member service help line.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in multifaceted membership organization with proven success in developing and implementing membership programs.
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, and utilize membership metrics to support development of membership policy and programs; demonstrated success in conceptualizing, developing, and evaluating multi-year business plans and reports; leadership development and volunteer training and motivation; marketing of intangible and tangible benefits to build member loyalty; demonstrated success in building consensus amongst diverse stakeholders and balancing multiple agendas to support organization’s membership goals.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills. Comfortable in handling communications with prospective members both in large groups and one-on-one.
  • Ability to write concisely and effectively to communicate a positive image for the organization.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, marketing or related area.
