Richard Matteis was named administrator of the California Farm Bureau Federation in August 2007.
Previously, he served as chief executive officer of the California Grain and Feed Association, which also provided management services and legislative advocacy for two-dozen other agricultural associations.
Before joining the Grain and Feed Association, Matteis served concurrently as executive secretary of the Santa Clara County Farm Bureau and the Alameda County Farm Bureau, and as a field representative for the California Farm Bureau.
He grew up on farms and ranches in Santa Clara and Mendocino counties. He earned a bachelor's degree from the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a master's degree in business administration from California State University, Sacramento.
