The Network Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the California Farm Bureau Federation’s (CFBF) overall health of the network, server deployment, new network engineering, security, ensuring network connectivity throughout the company's LAN/WAN infrastructure, and all other technical considerations at the network level of the organization’s technical hierarchy. The Network Administrator also works in conjunction with the IT Manager on network design, implementation, and upgrades. The Network Administrator may assist the Help Desk and Network Staff in providing technical and desktop support for all CFBF users in times of high volume or escalated issues.
Troubleshoot and maintain all aspects of the organization LAN/WAN. This includes but not limited to: Firewalls, DMZ, WAN, LAN, WLAN, VPN communications, firmware upgrades, hardware replacement, hardware procurement, network hardware/software maintenance, Voip/PBX systems, SAN switching in VMware environment, and all other virtual switching environments
Troubleshoot server and desktop environments as related to networking issues with Microsoft Server 2008 and higher, Windows 7/8, MSSQL server, email servers, file servers, and web servers
Communicate technical expertise and document network structure.
Uphold cabling standards throughout the organization.
Manage vendor relationships for support of clients and networking hardware/software.
Escalate and direct activities during systems problems with thorough follow-up and summary until issues are completely resolved. Participate in post-mortem analysis of problems for future process improvement. Provide continual communication to management of trouble resolution steps and issue resolution progress.
Maintain and uphold network security and PCI compliance requirements as it relates to the organizational network.
Provide network analysis, internet and intranet security which includes DMZ design, DNS, security and troubleshooting.
Conduct hardware and software configuration changes as designated by published best practice guidelines.
Assist with the procurement and inventory of equipment and software.
Serve as a liaison with vendors, consultants and end users.
Other duties may include special projects as assigned, providing support in all project phases from planning and analysis to implementation and ongoing maintenance.
Bachelors Degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science or 6 years equivalent work experience.
Must be customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills, dependable and flexible.
Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with the skills to provide mentorship to juniors and peers.
Adept at reading, writing and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
Ability to conduct research into networking issues as required while effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Highly self- motivated with a keen attention to detail and proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven demonstrated senior-level experience working in an enterprise IT organization, with a concentration in one or more of the following areas: LAN/WAN, Storage (SAN, NAS, etc.), Voice Engineering, Systems Infrastructure Development, Integration Services, Interoperability or Engineering.
Technical experiences should include, but not be limited to:
o Network Protocols and services: MPLS, DS3, T1, GigE, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP,
DNS, IPSec, and NAT
o Hp and Cisco networking hardware
o Monitoring tools : PRTG, SpiceWorks, etc
o Avaya/Cisco/MS VOIP platforms and analog integrations
o VMWare v5.5 / SAN switching fabrics
o Voice gateways: Adtran, Audiocodes
Ability to occasionally work after hours or on weekends to accomplish tasks that cannot be completed during normal business hours.
Ability to travel each December for 3-4 days within the state to support the organization’s annual meeting.
